I’m pleased to announce that with the ongoing support of YRD Yamaha Racing Development programme & the assistance Yamaha Motor Finance & Motorcycle Insurance I will be competing in the inaugural series of the Yamaha Motor Finance and Insurance YZF-R3 Cup.

The 5 round series is an initiative of the team at Yamaha has been developed in conjunction with Motorcycling Australia to provide an affordable option for young riders and is modelled on the highly successful European R3 Cup Series. It’s all about parity racing, not big budgets.

After racing in the Supersport category for two years, we know how expensive it can be and I can tell you they’ve certainly hit the mark with this setup. The package provides the complete race bike with everything you need to get out there and bump bars including, Akrapovic Exhaust System, Mupo Suspension Australia R&G protection kit, race glass stands and more ready to assemble for just $7,900. I was lucky enough to throw a leg over one of the test bikes at the Yamaha test day at Winton in late 2015 and was suitably impressed with the handling and performance of the smaller capacity bike. It’s going to be bags of fun and I’m really looking forward to competing in all 5 rounds, it’s going to be very evenly matched and should make for some really exciting and competitive racing.
