Taree talent Josh Hook won’t be on track when the 2016 Superbike World Championship officially gets underway at Phillip Island today due to his shoulder injuries sustained in testing.

Hook, who will contest the entire WorldSBK season with Grillini Kawasaki this year, was injured on Tuesday in a crash, suffering a dislocated and fractured shoulder in the process.

“I will not be racing this weekend due to dislocated shoulder I sustained in official WSBK test on Tuesday,” Hook confirmed via social media. “Further examination next week, hoping to be fit for Thailand’s round two. Sorry to all my sponsors and fans I can’t race here at home, hoping for a speedy recovery. Thanks for your support.”

It will be another race against time for the determined Australian, with Thailand’s second round taking place in a fortnight’s time on 11-13 March at the Chang International Circuit.
