Yamaha Racing Development rider Troy Guenther held on to take victory in the final Australian Supersport race of the weekend at Phillip Island this afternoon, clinching the overall round.

Guenther has quickly adapted to the YZF-R6 in his second full season in the division, but came under all kinds of pressure from fellow Queenslander Callum Spriggs (Kawasaki).

The winning margin for Guenther was 0.360s over Spriggs after stretching his advantage on the final lap, while Mark Chiodo (Triumph) outran Luke Mitchell (Yamaha) for the final place on the podium. Chris Quinn (Yamaha) completed the top five.

Overall it was Guenther who took the round for the early points lead over Spriggs, with Mitchell finding himself on the rostrum after race two winner Sam Clarke (Kawasaki) crashed out of the final outing.
