Michael Blair comes away with 2nd overall points in Round 1 of the Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike at SMP 12/3/16.

In only his second race meeting in the Superbike class on the Yamaha R1,a solid consistent ride saw Michael achieve two third places and a second place against an experienced field of riders.

“I gained a lot of confidence from my first race in Phillip Island in Round 1 of the ASBK where I placed fifth overall. “Coming into this round the team & GASD had the bike setup well and the Yamaha R1 felt strong in practice and qualifying. In Race 2 I finished .193 behind Matt Walters who was racing really well over the weekend”.

A highlight of the round for the team was Michael setting the fastest lap time in two of the three races with one being the fastest lap time of the day, this was achieved in the last race on the last lap.

Blair said “I feel I’ve got the pace and am looking to improve at my next race meeting. Stepping up to the Superbike class has been a new challenge for the team and we are looking forward to Round 2 of the Australasian Superbike Championship in Mallala in May.”
