Dual Australian Superbike Champion Jamie Stauffer sustained a fractured T12 vertebra in Australian Superbike Championship testing at Wakefield Park this week, likely forcing him out of round two over the Easter weekend.

Stauffer made headlines at Phillip Island’s opening round when he suffered a high-speed crash on the main straight during race one, suffering serious burns to his arm in the carnage.

After missing rounds with a broken pelvis last year, the Wakefield Park test on Tuesday marked Stauffer’s second major injury in the past 12 months that will almost certainly see him sit out round two on 25-27 March. He’s scheduled to undergo an MRI next week to determine the extent of his injury.
