Maverick Vinales will officially be teammates with nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi at Movistar Yamaha in MotoGP 2017 and 2018.

The 21-year-old Spaniard will replace Ducati-bound defending champion Jorge Lorenzo next year on the factory YZR-M1 after two seasons at Suzuki.

Vinales made his world championship debut in 2011 in the 125cc class. His racing career highlights include the victory of the Moto3 World Championship in 2013, as well as three Rookie of the Year awards in 2011 (125cc), 2014 (Moto2) and 2015 (MotoGP).

With Vinales’ Suzuki departure now official and confirmation coming earlier this week that Andrea Dovizioso will remain at Ducati, it’s now confirmed Andrea Iannone will be on board a factory Suzuki next season.
