Cube Racing arrives in the west at Barbagallo Raceway

Cube Racing press release:

Cube Racing duo Callum Spriggs and Robbie Menzies will take to Western Australia’s Barbagallo Raceway for the first time this weekend in round four of the 2016 Australian Supersport Championship.

The talented pair race under the team ownership/management of WA’s own Ben Henry, which will come in as a handy benefit when official practice opens on Friday. Untimed practice is taking place on Thursday at the circuit.

Spriggs was second in both races at Sydney Motorsport Park’s most recent round in April, positioning him third in the championship following three of six rounds, just 10.5 points out of the series lead entering Barbagallo Raceway.

“It’s always nice to come to a new race track and race,” Spriggs said. “From what I have seen thus far of Barbagallo Raceway it looks like it will be a good challenge. I’m looking forward to hopefully making up some points on the front two runners in the championship, so we will be working very hard to do that this weekend.”

As for Menzies – the protégé of three-time World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss – he too is carrying particularly strong form into Western Australia following a race podium in Sydney. He’s ninth to date in his rookie ASBK Supersport season.

“I’m looking forward to this weekend, as I have never raced at Barbagallo Raceway,” Menzies commented. “I’m hoping to have a good weekend after I had a good result at Sydney Motorsport Park, so I would like to keep that going. My goal for the weekend would be a top five finish, which would be fantastic.

“Main thing, however, is to stay upright and bring home as many championship points as I can. We are going fairly well in the championship, so I hope to keep that going for this weekend and the remaining two rounds.”

Western Australian fans will have the opportunity to meet Cube Racing’s Spriggs and Menzies pre-race alongside top ASBK racers at The Breakwater on Hillarys Boat Harbour this Thursday, 2 June from 5:30pm.

The fourth round of the 2016 Australian Superbike Championship including the Supersport category will take place at Barbagallo Raceway in Western Australia on 3-5 June. Visit www.asbk.com.au for details.
