DesmoSport Ducati’s Mike Jones has stormed to the Pirelli Superpole at Barbagallo Raceway’s fourth round of the 2016 Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli.

Jones smashed the circuit best lap with a flying 55.029s laptime – bettering the 55.341s set by Glenn Allerton earlier today – to secure the top place on the grid.

Behind Jones came Wayne Maxwell (Yamaha Racing Team) after he posted a late flyer, edging out provisional pole-setter and YRT teammate Allerton. He wasn’t able to match his time from qualifying two.

Fourth was an improvement for Troy Herfoss (Crankt Protein Honda Racing), well into the 55s, while Daniel Falzon (JD Racing Yamaha) and Cru Halliday (Yamaha Racing Team) completed the session’s six.

With the grid to be formed with three riders per row, Jones, Maxwell and Allerton will make up the front row during Sunday’s pair of 20-lap races, with Herfoss, Falzon and Halliday on the second row.
