All Piaggio brands will now come under the one roof in Australia as PS Importers – importers of Vespa and Piaggio – have now taken up distribution of Aprilia and Moto Guzzi from John Sample Automotive.

Importers of Aprilia in Australia since 1997, John Sample Automotive later added Moto Guzzi to its stable in 2003 after the acquisition of Moto Guzzi by Aprilia in 2000 and the loss of the then Australian importer.

“We have greatly enjoyed the privilege to distribute and build such iconic brands in Australia,” said John Sample Group executive chairman John Sample. “However we believe this consolidation of the brands will ensure the economies of scale necessary for them to grow and thrive in an ever changing and increasingly competitive industry.

“We now pass the baton to PS Importers who we know will manage the brands and the dealer network with professionalism and passion. We thank our loyal and passionate retailers and customers for the many years of support to such an incredible product.”

“For PS Importers it makes great sense to add Moto Guzzi and Aprilia to our current Piaggio and Vespa scooter distribution in Australia,” said managing director of PS Importers Paul Chiodo. “We have a strong relationship with Piaggio and this further enhances our product offering of the best European brands. We’re pleased to carry on the great work of John Sample Automotive and are looking forward to the opportunity to grow the Moto Guzzi and Aprilia brand experience in Australia.”

The transfer of distribution will happen over the coming months and is expected to be completed in 2016. For the Australian dealer network and owners of the brands, all parties involved have ensured a seamless transition in continuing customer service, motorcycle and service parts supply and warranty administration.
