SA Kawasaki BCperformance’s local favourite Robbie Bugden dominated the Queensland Raceway round of the 2016 Australian FX-Superbike Championship (AFX-SBK) on Saturday.

Upon return to the sport this season, Bugden claimed a clean-sweep of all three premier class races today, securing him pole for the Australasian Superbike Championship round on Sunday.

The opening race saw pole-setter Michael Blair (IPONE Yamaha) cross the line first, however a penalty for passing under yellows saw Bugden promoted to the top spot.

Bugden then went on to lead home Blair by 0.061s in race two and 0.177s in race three. Third overall was Matt Walters (Kawasaki Connection Repsol) with 3-4-4 finishes, beating Ducati duo Beau Beaton and Craig McMartin for position.

Ben Burke (SA Kawasaki BCperformance) was a non-finisher in the opening leg, but managed to bounce back for a pair of third-place results to round out the day. That slotted him into seventh, behind Liam Wilkinson (Yamaha) in sixth.

The Supersport class saw Mitch Levy (Yamaha) capture the overall with a 1-2-1 scorecard, getting the better of Kyle Buckley’s (Kawasaki) 2-1-2 results. Third for the round was Buckley’s SA Kawasaki BCperformance teammate Ryan Masri.

Also winning on Saturday overall were Broc Pearson (FX300 Ninja Cup), Simon Galloway (Formula Oz) and Craig McMartin (Pro-Twins/Nakedbike).
