Avintia Racing Ducati’s Loris Baz will make his return to the MotoGP World Championship grid at Sachsenring in Germany this weekend after sitting out the Catalunya and Assen rounds with a foot injury.

While he’s still recovering from the foot injury sustained at Mugello, French hard-charger Baz has fast-forwarded his return in a bid to turn his season around ahead of its second half.

“I’m really happy about coming back after my injury,” Baz said. “My foot is much better now, it’s not at 100 percent and still painful, but I can’t wait any more to jump back on my bike. My aim for this weekend is to get the feeling back and then to try to ride the best possible race on Sunday.

“I don’t want to take risks this weekend, my goal will be just to ride my bike and to get back on the pace. We’ll have a test in Austria after the race and I’m sure these two days will be really helpful for us. I’m looking forward to see my bike and to try the improvements made by Pirro with the electronics. I’m eager to get back after watching the last two races from my sofa.”

Baz is currently 21st in the MotoGP World Championship standings after the opening eight rounds, his best showing coming at home in Le Mans with a 12th-place finish. He scored points three races in a row prior to crashing at Mugello.
