Dunlop delivers in FX-ASC at Queensland Raceway

Dunlop Tyres press release:

SA Kawasaki BCperformance Kawasaki teammates Robbie Bugden and Ben Burke were joined by Ducati-mounted Beau Beaton on the Australasian Superbike Championship podium at Queensland Raceway on Sunday, all equipped with Dunlop tyres.

The official FX-ASC series control tyre supplier delivered a strong selection of race rubber throughout the Superbike, Supersport and Pro-Twins/Nakedbike categories in Queensland.

Saturday’s Australian FX-Superbike Championship saw home hero Bugden claim all three race wins, clinching the overall – and Sunday’s pole position – from Michael Blair (Yamaha) and Matt Walters (Kawasaki).

The premier series took off on Sunday with rookie standout Blair winning the opening race, before Bugden hit back with a pair of wins to cap off a dominant weekend. Consistency placed teammate Burke and Beaton on the overall podium alongside him.

In Supersport it was Mitch Levy (Yamaha) who won both days overall. Saturday saw him take victory over Kyle Buckley (Kawasaki) and Ryan Masri (Kawasaki), before Jordan Carlsson (Yamaha) moved onto the final step on Sunday.

Runaway Pro-Twins/Nakedbike points leader Michael McMillan (Aprilia) was the class of the field with all three wins, topping Heath Griffin (Ducati) and leading Nakedbike Adrian Pierpoint (Aprilia).

Also claiming victory on board Dunlop product during the Queensland Raceway weekend was Simon Galloway (Yamaha), claiming four wins from six starts across the action-packed weekend of competition.

“Excellent conditions over the weekend created some fierce competition and the Dunlop KR133 and KR106 control tyres performed flawlessly,” said Dunlop national motorcycle tyre manager Sabastian Mincone.

“My congratulations to Robbie in the Superbike class, Mitch in the Supersport class and Michael McMillan in the Pro Twins class. Also congratulations to Simon Galloway, who was overall winner in the open-tyre Formula Oz class using Dunlop tyres.”

Round four of the 2016 Australasian Superbike Championship and Australian FX-Superbike Championship will take place at Sydney Motorsport Park in New South Wales on 9-10 September.
