Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Honda’s Jack Miller has taken a lot of value from a full two days of testing at Austria’s Red Bull Ring this week, making up for lost time at the beginning of the season.

While recovering from a broken leg sustained in the pre-season Miller was forced to miss the opening Sepang test in February, then limped through the limited laps he was able to make prior to Qatar’s opener.

The Australian took advantage of the perfect weather conditions to rack up 151 laps, as he worked to evaluate a number of different settings and to further refine the set up of his Honda RC213V, coming off three-straight top 10 finishes including that heroic win at Assen.

“The track here is good and I’ve really enjoyed riding it the last two days,” Miller said after posting the 13th fastest laptime on combined times. “This test was really important for us after missing so many tests at the start of the season. It was great just to get a whole heap of dry laps in where I could just go out and ride the bike, which I really enjoyed. It was a lot of fun.

“Yesterday we managed to make some improvements with the set-up and we’ve built on that today, finding a bit more speed but also I feel more comfortable on the bike now. We’ve got a little break now, but I’m looking forward to getting back here next month to get the second half of the season underway.”

Miller was one of few, including Valentino Rossi, to have previous experience at the Spielberg circuit before Tuesday and Wednesday’s running, having contested a German 125 Grand Prix Championship round there in 2011.
