Motorcycling Australia press release:

With the 2016 Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli (ABSK) making its way back to Warwick in Queensland this weekend for Round 5 of the championship at Morgan Park, the ASBK management team is enthralled by the support from both the Rose City Shoppingworld and the Southern Downs Regional Council.

Rose City Shoppingworld has played a key role in the support and promotion of the Round 5 official ASBK Meet and Greet to be held this Thursday the 4th of August in Rose City Shoppingworld from 4:30pm AEST.

Louise de Lissa, Marketing manager at Rose City Shoppingworld was pleased to be hosting the Round 5 official ASBK Meet and Greet and shared her excitement in being a part of providing the town of Warwick with the opportunity to meet the Australian Superbike athletes.

“Rose City Shoppingworld is very excited to provide a venue for fans to come and meet the riders of the Superbike Series,” she said.

“It will be a sneak preview before a wonderful weekend of racing here at Morgan Park in Warwick.”

“There are many children and adults alike from Warwick who love this sport and this is a one off chance to see and experience the bikes and the riders up close and personal.”

With the ASBK injecting the economy substantially over the three-day event being held in the rural town of Warwick, the Southern Downs Regional Council are excited to be playing host with Mayor Dobie even joining in on the festivities on Sunday with a ‘Ride of a lifetime’ pillion ride.

Southern Downs Mayor Tracy Dobie said the superbike round is another coup for the Southern Downs region, which has a strong and growing reputation as a horsepower and motorsport mecca.

“Being able to attract major events like the Australian Superbike Championship to our region is fantastic and offers enormous benefits, including national coverage.

“This is ‘gold’ for our community. It’s an opportunity to showcase the Southern Downs to the visiting teams, riders and race fans.

“Not only does it provide great entertainment for locals, it’s a huge drawcard for visitors who will spend their dollars on accommodation, food and other services while they’re here,’ she said.

Mayor Dobie said she was also looking forward to the exhilaration of the pillion ride.

“To get on the back of a superbike with a former Australian or World Champion road racer is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I’m feeling the ‘need for speed’,” she said.

Be sure to make your way down to Rose City Shoppingworld from 4:30pm AEST on Thursday the 4th of August for the official ASBK Meet and Greet, and this weekend head to Morgan Park Raceway to watch these athletes compete in the penultimate round of the 2016 Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli.
