Knee ligament damage sidelines Monster Yamaha Tech3 regular.
Monster Yamaha Tech3 has confirmed Alex Lowes will contest the next two rounds of the 2016 MotoGP World Championship in the place of injured countryman Bradley Smith.
Smith sustained knee ligament damage in a crash while contesting the final round of the Endurance World Championship in Germany, set to miss Silverstone and San Marino.
As a result, the Monster Yamaha Tech3 team announced that Pata Yamaha Official World Superbike Team rider Lowes will fill in for Smith at both races, having recently sampled the Tech3 Yamaha YZR-M1 for the first time at the post-Czech GP test.
Lowes was also part of the Yamaha Factory Racing Team which dominated the 2016 Suzuka 8 Hours event, alongside Pol Espargaro and Katsuyuki Nakasuga.
