Challenging British Grand Prix for Australian rider.
Tyre wear at Silverstone’s British Grand Prix plagued Jack Miller’s (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS) return to racing following wrist and back injuries that sidelined him for the previous two rounds.
Tyre choice was a gamble throughout the weekend due to the changing wet and cold conditions, with the Australian opting to select the Michelin medium compound tyre for the 20-lap race.
Starting 12th on the grid, Miller made his way into the top ten by lap three, however lack of strength in his right wrist and a deteriorating rear tyre saw him unable to maintain the position, completing the race in 16th.
“Today’s race was a difficult one for me and the biggest issue I had was with the rear tyre,” Miller explained. “After about five laps I started to have some issues with grip on the right side of the rear tyre.”
“It was impossible for me to fight with anybody and I was happy to get in 19 laps on the bike after a difficult time with injuries. But I am disappointed because I’m sure I could have picked up some important points today,” he continued.
The 21-year-old will now shift his attention towards this weekend’s San Marino Grand Prix as he endeavours to improve on his result from Silverstone.
