Smith replacement to take part in additional round.
Monster Tech3 Yamaha replacement rider Alex Lowes will continue to fill-in for the injured Bradley Smith at the Aragon grand prix in two weeks time.
Lowes has contested the previous two rounds of the prestigious MotoGP World Championship in place of Smith, racing to an impressive 13th at Silverstone, however a mistake seven laps in at the San Marino grand prix last weekend forced the British rider to retire from the race.
“After what has been a positive weekend, I am obviously disappointed with today’s outcome,” Lowes expressed. “To be honest, I didn’t really get the chance to get into the race, and sadly I made a small mistake and lost the front at turn one.”
“The whole weekend, apart from today, has been encouraging and I got a better understanding of the YZR-M1 with every lap,” he continued. “I am super happy to announce that I will be riding for Monster Yamaha Tech3 again in Aragon and I am thankful to have another opportunity.”
Lowes will now return to the World Superbike Championship in Germany next weekend before taking part in his final appearance with the Monster Tech3 Yamaha Team at Aragon, Spain, on 25 September.
