The final sessions of Friday’s practice have been completed at Winton’s sixth round of the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) presented by Motul Pirelli.

Wet and challenging conditions would see mixed times throughout all three sessions, however majority of the field recorded their fastest times in P2 when the circuit was in a more suitable state.

Crankt Protein Honda Racing’s Jamie Stauffer topped the charts in P2, clocking a quick time of 1m33.849s to edge out Yamaha Racing Team’s Glen Allerton, who recorded a time of 1m33.849s in the same outing.

Concluding the top three was Superbike championship leader and fellow Yamaha Racing Team member Wayne Maxwell (1m34.251), followed by Crankt Protein Honda Racing’s Troy Herfoss (1m34.678s) and Team Apex Motorsports’ Josh Waters (1m36.269s), who is making his first ASBK appearance since 2012.

Supersport title contender Sam Clarke (1m34.895s) recorded the fastest lap in his respective category, while Tom Taparis (1m45.686s) was awarded the top sport in the Production class. Callum Alderson (1m50.359s) and Matt Barton (1m53.170s) also topped the practice times in the R3 Cup and Moto3/125GP categories.

Qualifying will kick off tomorrow morning, followed by the Pirelli Superbike Superpole in the afternoon as Sunday’s schedule will see the final races of the season take place.
