An expanded schedule has been revealed for the 2017 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Race Championship which will consist of 10 rounds following the addition of two new venues.

The 10-round series will begin on 20-23 April, in Austin, Texas, at Circuit of The Americas, with the event being held in conjunction with the Red Bull MotoGP of The Americas.

Road Atlanta (Georgia), Virginia International Raceway (Virginia), Road America (Wisconsin), Utah Motorsports Campus (Utah), Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (California), New Jersey Motorsports Park (New Jersey) and Barber Motorsports Park (Alabama) will all return to the series for another year.

Sonoma Raceway in California and Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Pennsylvania, the two new locations added to the schedule, will play host to rounds seven and eight in August.

The Sonoma round will mark the first time the MotoAmerica series has visited the circuit in northern California, although it has previously hosted rounds of the AMA Superbike Championship.

As for Pittsburgh International Race Complex, the 2017 season will see it’s first AMA-sanctioned event take place at the Pennsylvania venue.

President of MotoAmerica Wayne Rainey spoke of the pleasure in expanding the series in just its third year of operation, especially with the addition of an all-new venue to the calendar.

“We’re thrilled to announce that our 2017 MotoAmerica schedule will feature 10 rounds, including two new stops,” he explained. “It’s always been our goal to expand the series and we’ve been able to do that entering our third season.”

“It’s also great to be going to an all-new racetrack for us at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex. It’s always exciting for the teams and riders to go to a new racetrack and we’re happy to be bringing our series to a new market in Pittsburgh and its surrounding areas.”
