Aerodynamic updates limited, airbag protection required and more.
The grand prix commission has announced a host of revisions to the 2017 MotoGP regulations following a meeting held at Motegi’s Grand Prix of Japan last weekend.
Aerodynamic evolution of the premier class has been limited as of next year, with only one upgrade of the fairing and front guard permitted per rider. The initial designs will be homologated prior to the first round.
Grand prix rider leathers will be required to have an approved inflatable airbag device fitted, in a bid to further increase safety and it was supported by all current suppliers within the championship.
The commission approved the reappointment of Liqui-Moly as the official supplier of oil for the Moto3 and Moto2 classes for the three years 2017-2019, while an invitation to tender for the supply of an ECU for the Moto2 class is to be announced for 2019-2021.
