Spriggs claims Supersport race two and overall round victory.
Custom Plates Apex Motorsport Yamaha’s Josh Waters won race three of the Australian Superbikes at Phillip Island’s Michelin Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix this morning, sealing the overall round victory.
The two-time national champion Waters won ahead of Jamie Stauffer (Crankt Protein Honda Racing) by 0.089s in the run to the line, while early leader Brayden Elliott (Knobby Underwear Suzuki) impressed for third.
Elliott got the better of new ASBK champion Troy Herfoss (Crankt Protein Honda Racing) for the final podium in the race, as Michael Blair (IPONE Yamaha) rounded out the top five. New Zealand’s Sloan Frost (Next Gen Motorsports Suzuki) beat home Cru Halliday (DesmoSport Ducati) in sixth and seventh.
Overall Waters won from Stauffer and Herfoss, while in the Phillip Island Championship standings it was Herfoss who was crowned over Blair and Stauffer – that tally made up from the WorldSBK support races earlier in the year and this weekend’s MotoGP supports.
In Supersport Callum Spriggs (Cube Racing) won race two today for the overall and Phillip Island Championship. It was a comfortable 5.694s win for Spriggs over Luke Mitchell (Yamaha) and Sam Clarke (Kawasaki), with Ted Collins (Next Gen Motorsports Suzuki) and Tom Toparis (Cube Racing) the top five.
Behind Spriggs overall for the round was Clarke and Mitchell on the podium, while in the Phillip Island Championship it was again Spriggs who took the win this time over Mitchell and Clarke in the final standings.
