Dominant end to season has Ducati rider on a roll into next year.
Aruba.it Racing Ducati’s Chaz Davies has turned his attention to the 2017 Motul FIM World Superbike Championship after falling short of claiming the runner-up position following last weekend’s season finale in Qatar.
The British rider dominated proceedings under the lights of the Losail International Circuit, racing to two commanding victories over the weekend’s event. Davies stated it was a bittersweet day, although he will now move forward and place his focus on next year’s title.
“It’s bittersweet, because it wasn’t enough to secure second place in the championship, but I saw that coming,” Davies explained. “We’ve been the fastest out there since the summer break, but we’ll try to keep improving everyday, take it into next year and be as consistent as possible to get the big trophy in the end.”
Davies carried his dominating form throughout the last half of the series, with his performance in Qatar marking his sixth-consecutive race win while also signifying that he will be a serious championship favourite for next year.
The 2017 Motul FIM Superbike World Championship will commence at the Yamaha Finance Phillip Island round in Australia on 24-26 February.
