Yamaha Motor Europe has confirmed it will enter the 2017 Supersport World Championship (WorldSSP) with two factory-supported teams using the updated YZF-R6.

GRT Yamaha Official WorldSSP Team will field Lucas Mahias and Federico Caricasulo, while Kallio Yamaha Supported WorldSSP Team has Niki Tuuli and Sheridan Morais.

Yamaha unveiled a race-prepared YZF-R6 at the EICMA press conference in Milan, Italy, this week, as it aims to reclaim the title it last won in 2013 with Sam Lowes at the helm.

The R6 displayed at EICMA include the full race fairing, an Akrapovic Evo Titanium exhaust, dual Brembo T-drive front brakes, single Brembo rear brake, telescopic forks front suspension with Ohlins Cartridge Kit and Pirelli Diablo tyres as per championship regulations.
