Cube Racing’s Callum Spriggs will take delivery of a Kawasaki ZX-10R in the coming weeks as he prepares to transition into the premier Superbike category.

After five years in Supersport class, Spriggs has revealed that he feels it’s the right time to move into the Superbike category, while he has also set strong expectations for the 2017 Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK).

“It’s definitely the plan to move up, I should hopefully have a superbike this week and can start setting it up,” Spriggs explained. “I feel like I need a change, I’ve been on the 600cc for five years now and it will be good to ride something different.

“It seems like it will be a good year next year – it’s going to be nice and competitive, so I think it’s a good time to do it. Starting off next year, it’s going to be hard to get into the top 10, but I’d like to be in the top five by the middle of the year – there’s like six factory bikes there – I would be doing well to get close to the top five by the middle of the year.”

The Queenslander’s debut in the premier class could come as soon as next month, as he has set his intentions on racing the final round of the Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship (FX-ASC) in New South Wales, however that will be determined closer to event following initial testing.

“At the end of the year I might be doing the last FX-ASC round, but it depends if I can get setup in time. It will be pretty much to get some more bike time and see where I’m at,” he added.

Spriggs completed this year’s ASBK championship fourth in the Supersport class, finishing on the podium four times out of the six-round series.
