Dry conditions favour teams during Tuesday's track time.
Weather conditions improved on Tuesday for teams taking part in the Superbike World Championship team test this week, with dry track time delivered on day two of three at Jerez, Spain.
Grillini Racing Team’s Ondrej Jezek was the first to get out on track, braving the gloomy conditions on his teammate’s bike. On Monday Jezek tested his own Kawasaki, which was the 2015 model, while today he put in some laps on Badovini’s 2016 ZX-10R as he prepares for his new bike ahead of next year.
PJ Jacobsen was on track, this time on the MV Agusta F3 675. It hasn’t been confirmed whether the American will be riding the MV next year, but he didn’t miss the opportunity to get in some valuable laps with the benefit of being able to compare the MV to his Honda.
By 11:00am, most riders were out on track with the sun breaking through the clouds soon after, with Jonathan Rea taking his ZX-10RR out for the first time to test a new rear shock. His teammate Tom Sykes joined him on track a little later on and by the afternoon everyone was out on track making the most of the sunshine.
Over in the Honda garage, Stefan Bradl confirmed that the basic set up such as rider position was finalised, meaning the team’s focus on day two was targeted at finding optimal clutch settings and further work on the brakes. The Honda WorldSBK Team also utilised the day to do a comparison on the 2016 and 2017 Ohlins suspension components.
Jordi Torres continued his work on the new Fortis swingarm, in what was the final day of testing for Althea BMW Racing Team this week. Many of the teams will carry on with testing on Wednesday.
MotoGP riders Aleix Espargaro, Jack Miller and Loris Baz were at Jerez as spectators today, observing their WorldSBK counterparts and asking lots of questions as they prepare to join them on track tomorrow, on what will be day three for World Superbike riders.
