Retired two-time MotoGP title-winner Casey Stoner left Sepang’s mammoth pre-season test in a positive mood, returning aboard the Ducati Test Team Desmosedici during Wednesday’s final session.

Stoner was part of the factory test rider outing in the week prior to the official test and then made headlines on Monday by setting the fastest lap amongst the current crop of MotoGP regulars.

The Aussie sat out Tuesday’s proceedings and then returned for further development work on day three, resulting in seventh position with a fast time of 1m59.639s – a tenth faster than Ducati newcomer Jorge Lorenzo.

“Today was another fairly positive day,” Stoner reflected. “We got quite a few things tested before a little bit of rain disrupted us, but we still got some good track time towards the end of the day as well.

“We got to do a lot of configurations between chassis, swing-arms, engine mappings and different things like this, so all in all it was quite positive and hopefully we got some good things to take away from this test.”

The next official MotoGP tests are scheduled for the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in Australia on 15-17 February, however it’s not certain whether Stoner will continue testing at that event.
