A selection of leading international media outlets have descended upon the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in Victoria for the 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000R world launch, which will continue through the course of the week.

With the first day of on-track action taking place last Sunday, Suzuki Australia has worked closely with the Japanese factory, including chief engineer Shinichi Sahara, and Bridgestone representatives to introduce the all-new model.

Publications from the United States, Canada, Japan, Europe, New Zealand, Australia – including CycleOnline.com.au – and beyond will all experience the up-spec GSX-R1000R for world-first impressions. It’s also a unique opportunity for Suzuki to gather direct feedback from press test riders on its latest release.

Media is working closely with Suzuki’s technical services staff across the launch, in addition to longtime Australian Superbike team manager/Suzuki guru Phil Tainton and Wilson MX team technician Jason Corney. Five 20-minute sessions are held each day – the first three on Bridgestone RS10 OEM tyres and the final two on the more advanced R10 option.

Suzuki has called upon 1993 500cc world champion Kevin Schwantz and multiple British champion John Reynolds to take part in proceedings, while former Australian champions Shawn Giles and Josh Waters will lap with the Australian press on Friday. A dealer day is scheduled for Saturday.
