Motorcycling Western Australia has announced that the planned Barbagallo Raceway round of the 2017 YMF Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) presented by Motul Pirelli won’t take place.

With motorcycle activities suspended at the Western Australian circuit last November, the decision has been made to postpone the ASBK’s return until 2018.

“It is with much disappointment that unfortunately the Australian Superbike round at Barbagallo Raceway has had to be postponed to 2018,” a statement confirmed. “Commercial deadlines and circumstances outside of the control of Motorcycling Western Australia and Motorcycling Australia (MA) has made it difficult to be able to meet commitments necessary.

“It is also in the best interests of the event that we work towards 2018 to make sure that the West Australian round Australian Superbike Championships can be the best event it can be. We are all disappointed, but thank Motorcycling Australia, Australian Superbikes, Motorcycle Racing Club of Western Australia, Trakdayz and all those that worked tirelessly to get as far as we have.”

Round four of the 2017 ASBK series had originally been pencilled in for Barbagallo Raceway – listed as to be confirmed on the official series website – in its traditional June slot, however it’s expected series organisers MA will now lock-in an alternate venue for this season at least to maintain the seven-round schedule.
