Rea leads final Phillip Island WorldSBK free practice

Jacobsen continues to be the WorldSSP benchmark.

World champion Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) led the way in Free Practice 3 at Phillip Island, setting the benchmark with a 1m30.274s this morning.

With Superpole right around the corner in round one of the 2017 Motul Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK), Rea led Marco Melandri (Arbua.it Racing Ducati) and Xavi Fores (Barni Racing Ducati) in session four.

Yesterday’s fastest on combined times, Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing Ducati) was six tenths down in fourth, ahead of Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team). Australian wildcard Josh Brookes (ER Motorsports Yamaha) was 1.932s off in P18.

In World Supersport it was once again American PJ Jacobsen who topped the charts, his 1m33.364s leading Federico Caricasulo (Yamaha) by two tenths and Niki Tuuli (Yamaha). Anthony West (Yamaha) was best of the Aussies, posting a 1m35.098s for 16th, while Aiden Wagner (Honda) was 21st and Lachlan Epis (Kawasaki) 23rd.
