Yamaha Racing Team rider crashes out of the weekend in FP2 (updated).
Three-time Australian Superbike champion Glenn Allerton has sustained a suspected broken arm during free practice two at Wakefield Park this afternoon.
Allerton, 36, fell heavily upon braking into turn 10 this afternoon, attended to by RACESAFE and directly transferred to hospital in Goulburn.
The incident of Allerton, who was second in FP1 earlier this morning, caused a red flag stoppage. Once resumed, it was teammate Wayne Maxwell (Yamaha Racing Team) who led the way with a 58.405s over Troy Herfoss (Crankt Protein Honda Racing) and Daniel Falzon (Caterpillar JD Racing Yamaha).
Allerton ended up sixth in the session despite completing just five laps. It’s a severe blow to the YRT contender in his quest for a fourth premier class championship this season, ruled out of this weekend’s Wakefield Park round at the least.
Update:
Allerton has confirmed that he has two breaks of the humerus bone in his left arm, due to undergo surgery to plate the break on Saturday morning. We will provide further information as it becomes available.
