The Australian Grand Prix Corporation and Dorna Sports have announced MotoGP tyre supplier Michelin as the official title sponsor of the 2017 Michelin Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix from the 20-22 October.

The partnership between Michelin and MotoGP is an ongoing success with Michelin remaining the sole tyre supplier to the premier class of motorcycle grand prix racing.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Andrew Westacott said the title sponsor agreement is a powerful addition to this year’s Michelin Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix event.

“The scenic Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit hosts an incredible race for fans and with the event being at the end of the season, it is often an exciting championship-decider,” Westacott said. “The opportunity to have a reputable brand such as Michelin associated with the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix is a fantastic one and we are looking forward to the race being a highlight on the MotoGP calendar.”

The 2016 season showcased a record nine different winners, with the Michelin and MotoGP partnership no doubt pushing the technology and performance of the racing.

Michelin two-wheel tyre division president Gary Guthrie said he is really excited about how they can work together with the teams and organisers this year to make the racing and the event even more thrilling.

“The opportunity Dorna has given us again this year to associate Michelin with the Australian Grand Prix, which is one of the MotoGP rounds that bikers from all over the planet invariably look forward to the most eagerly, is a tremendous lever for us,” Guthrie said.

MotoGP now races in the Americas before returning to Europe, with the title-fight then sure to fire up on the way to the Michelin Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix in October. For more information and to purchase tickets, be sure to stop by visit www.motogp.com.au.
