Motul Supersport race one:
Next Gen Motorsports Suzuki’s Ted Collins managed to convert his pole position to the opening 13-lap race victory this morning, sprinting away from the field for a 6.977s victory while also smashing the lap record by two full seconds with a flying 1m22.806s on lap three. While Collins controlled the race from the from, Mark Chiodo (Triumph) was able to bring it home second, with Sam Lambert (Yamaha) recovering from an early off-track excursion for third – edging out Nic Liminton and Sam Muldoon for position. The top 10 was completed by New Zealand champion Damon Rees (Honda), Wakefield Park winner Tom Toparis (Cube Racing Kawasaki), Cambridge Olivier (Yamaha), Phillip Island victor Mason Coote (Yamaha) and Ryan Taylor (Yamaha).

Yamaha Motor Insurance Superbike race one:
Race one of the premier class at Winton saw Yamaha Racing Team’s Wayne Maxwell charge to a hard-earned victory, edging his way to the win by 0.550s from Robbie Bugden (Kawasaki BCperformance) and Cru Halliday (IPONE/YMF/YMI Yamaha), another tenth in arrears. Crankt Protein Honda Racing’s Troy Herfoss set the pace and fended off multiple attacks from Maxwell until he finally made a move stick on lap 12 into turn seven. Pirelli-equipped Maxwell stayed in front from there, keeping fast-finishing Dunlop duo Bugden and Halliday at bay in the closing laps – both of them moving by Herfoss on the penultimate lap and that’s how they would finish. Behind them in fifth was Daniel Falzon (Caterpillar JD Racing Yamaha), who still leads the points, while sixth was Bridgestone-shod Josh Hook (Racer’s Edge Performance/McMartin Racing Ducati). Josh Waters (Team Suzuki Ecstar), Bryan Staring (Crankt Protein Honda Racing), Michael Blair (Gosford Classic Car Museum/IPONE/YMI/Yamaha) and Corey Turner (Yamaha) filled the top 10. DesmoSport Ducati’s Callum Spriggs retired from the race with a broken exhaust on his Panigale.

Motul Supersport race two:
Another dominant performance from Collins saw him make it the Supersport overall for the round, stretching his points advantage to 26 as a result of his success this weekend at Winton. He built a 3.525s buffer in the 13-lap affair for the double, as Chiodo and Lambert again completed the race podium. Muldoon was fourth this time out ahead of Rees, while Chris Quinn (Yamaha) crossed the line for sixth, title-contender Coote seventh, Jake Pruiti (Triumph), Toparis and John Hunt (Suzuki) completed the top 10. Liminton had a brake issue and exited the race, bumping him down to 13th for the weekend. Overall for the round Collins was the victor, leading Chiodo and Lambert. In the standings, Collins has a commanding lead, from Coote and Chiodo.

Yamaha Motor Insurance Superbike race two:
A superb second race for Maxwell saw him clinch the double and a new lap record of 1m20.688s to leap-frog to second in the championship. The 2013 title-winner was unstoppable in the second 16-lap battle this afternoon, contested in cooler conditions, to win by 5.211s ahead of Herfoss and a further 3.6 over Halliday, who brought his privateer R1 home in P3. Fourth was enough for Falzon to hold onto his points lead, while Bugden recovered from a slow start for fifth, to beat Hook, Staring – who was second in the early stages before fading – Waters, Kyle Buckley (Kawasaki BCperformance) and Turner. The round went to Maxwell over Herfoss and Halliday, while in the standings Falzon leads Maxwell and Herfoss by nine, both tied for position with four rounds remaining.
