Capable Aussie international leaves World Supersport squad.
Queenslander Aiden Wagner has announced he won’t be continuing with Team Lorini Honda in the Supersport World Championship (WorldSSP) after exiting the team at Assen last weekend.
Wagner, 22, got his season off to a strong start at Phillip Island with a seventh-place result and then took eighth in Thailand, but 17th at Aragon marked a downturn in his race results.
“Due to irreconcilable differences between the team and myself, I will not be competing further at Assen this weekend,” Wagner revealed. “Nor will I ride with the team for the rest of the season. It is very disappointing to end like this, but I have found it very hard with the lack of communication and because of language differences, to get my point across.
“The team’s lack of beliefs in me and my crew became a constant battle. Not being able to work on the bike or to understand how to make it a better package was the end for me. It’s time to think about what my future may hold and as the situation was, I could not see a beneficial outcome. I am very sorry to my sponsors in this time and thank them very much for their hard work and dedication already this season.”
The 2014 Australasian Supersport champion Wagner has endured a mixed career since moving overseas in 2015, switching between multiple teams and manufacturers primarily within World Supersport and also the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup.
