Former WorldSBK champion gets another race aboard GSX-RR.
Frenchman Sylvain Guintoli is targeting further success when he contests his second MotoGP race with Team Suzuki Ecstar, eager to capitalise on his experience at the Italian grand prix.
The 2014 Superbike world champion Guintoli managed to score a point for 15th in his home race at Le Mans while filling in for Alex Rins and will be aiming to replicate that type of result at Mugello.
“After a very exciting return to MotoGP with the GSX-RR in Le Mans, I hope we can build on this experience to improve the pace,” Guintoli said. “Mugello has always been one of my favourites. I am so happy to be able to race again on this fantastic track. Also, it will be a very special feeling to again experience the ‘exclusively MotoGP top speed’ in the main straight!”
Guintoli has been called in to deputise for Rins during the current run of grand prix rounds, as the Spanish rookie continues his recovery from a broken wrist sustained in Texas. A time-frame on his return is yet to be finalised.
