Akeno Speed Yamaha’s Anthony West has scored a significant pair of wins in the Japanese round of the 2017 Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) at Suzuka Circuit.

After controversy surrounded his disqualification from Thailand last time out, West defied the odds to power his private YZF-R6 to the double in Japan.

West won Saturday’s opening encounter ahead of Yamaha Racing’s Yuki Ito and defending champion Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi (Musashi Boon Siew Honda), while on Sunday West again was victorious over Ito, with Japanese veteran Yukio Kagayama (Team Kagayama Suzuki).

In the championship, Kawasaki’s Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman continues to lead the way ahead of Ito and Zaidi. Despite his DSQ from both races at Chang, West is sixth in the standings following three rounds.
