Plans for a second circuit to be constructed at Bathurst received an additional boost today, with the New South Wales state government pledging $10-million in funding toward the project.

Recognised as ‘Velocity Park’, Bathurst Regional Council (BRC) has extensive plans in place to build a FIA/FIM-accredited 4.58-kilometre permanent circuit (in red within accompanying plan) alongside the iconic Mount Panorama circuit.

The New South Wales office of sport had already pledged $5-million to the project and council $10-million, with today’s additional $10-million announcement made by deputy premier and minister for regional NSW John Barilaro, NSW treasurer Dominic Perrottet and member for Bathurst, Paul Toole.

It’s understood that the Velocity Park circuit will require $52.4-million for its construction, with a $10 million federal grant application also being made. A design tender process currently taking place and reportedly attracting interest from local and international companies.
