Suzuki rider sweeps the weekend with two race wins.
Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s Toni Elias dominated Laguna Seca’s sixth round of the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship, defeating teammate Roger Hayden (Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing) in both outings.
Race one saw Elias battle with pole sitter Hayden for the top spot before taking the reigns and crossing the line first with a narrow margin of 0.543s, while defending champion Cameron Beaubier (Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing) rounded out podium in third.
The top five was completed by Mathew Scholtz (Yamalube/Westby Racing) and Australian Anthony West (Fly Street/Motul Oils/ADR Motorsports), who made a special appearance at the Californian round.
It was Elias once again who shot to the lead in race two, going onto gap Hayden by 1.319s as the chequered flag came out. The double-victory granted Elias an additional 10 points over Hayden to extend his lead to 45 in the championship standings.
Josh Herrin (HelmetSounds.com/Western Services/Yamaha) was third, followed by Josh Heyes (Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing) and Kyle Wyman (Motivation USA/Lucas Oil/KWR), while West lodged a credible eighth place finish to conclude the weekend.
