Youthful talent records impressive fourth place result at Hidden Valley.
Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) privateer Corey Turner has found new form following a highly-impressive fourth place finish at Hidden Valley’s fourth stop of the series last weekend in Darwin.
Yamaha-mounted Turner, who fell just shy of the podium by three points, identified a suspension upgrade that has been finely tuned as the key to his newly-found form in the premier category.
“We finally got some suspension in the bike at Winton, and we’re finally starting to get it sorted thanks to uncle who’s been setting it up for me,” Turner explained to CycleOnline.com.au. “We definitely struggled at the start of the year, but every round we kind of make an upgrade to the bike as more funds come in, so every round we’re finding a little more form.
“We struggled with rear grip all weekend long, as I think most people did. I think we just found a little bit of an edge on the others, pushed on and yeah, came out with fourth in the last race.”
The youthful talent expressed his relief in making the long haul to Darwin for the event, stating he was unsure of his attendance, although after performing well, he’s evidently eager for Morgan Park’s fifth round.
“Before the weekend, it was a struggle to get here – we were wondering if we would even come,” he continued. “After this weekend, it just makes me more excited and keen for the next round – I’m stoked.”
The Queenslander sits eighth in the championship with three rounds remaining, granting the 19-year-old plenty of opportunity to build on his current form.
