Australian British Superstock 1000 contender confident ahead of round seven.
Australian Brayden Elliott is favouring the endurance format at this weekend’s seventh round of the British Superstock 1000 Championship, believing it will play as an advantage for him at the Brands Hatch circuit.
The format will see the class take on two back-to-back 17-lap races on Saturday, followed by a 16-lap sprint on Sunday.
Elliott, who currently sits 23rd in the championship standings, is confident in himself leading into the weekend, revealing his preparation will make a significant difference in the endurance-style event.
“This weekend sees the return of the 100-mile endurance race, which is something I feel I can take advantage of,” Elliott explained. “17 laps with a quick pit stop, then another 17 laps is mentally and physically demanding, and I know the effort that I put in away from the track makes a huge difference in these races.”
With 2017 being his first season in the UK, the rookie has been forced to adapt to new tracks all year long, although after racing the Brands Hatch Indy layout previously, he’s confident the familiarity with the surface will be beneficial on the full-spec GP circuit.
“Although I am riding the extended GP version of the circuit, I have confidence that our setup is in a rough scope of where we want it to be, and that I can concentrate on learning sections of the track rather than all of it feeling unfamiliar to me,” he continued.
“After the last two rounds I have definitely gained some confidence back, and feel that our momentum as a team is building, getting stronger each round. I am feeling more and more comfortable on the machine and the layout of the British tracks. I feel as though I can take advantage of the second half of the season.”
