Italian Davide Giugliano has been drafted into the Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team for a two-day test at Lausitzring in Germany on-board the CBR1000RR SP2.

Longtime factory Ducati rider Giugliano switched to the British Superbikes in 2017 with Tyco BMW, however the pair parted company in June.

With Stefan Bradl currently in Japan for this weekend’s Suzuka 8 Hours, Giugliano and Michele Magnoni will carry out the test program with the Ten Kate-operated team this week.

“With the long break between Laguna Seca and the Lausitzring, we are working non-stop to keep improving the Fireblade and to be ready for the second half of the season,” explained Red Bull Honda team manager Ronald ten Kate. “This test at the German track will give us the chance to try new upgrades for the package we already have and move forward with the development of the bike.

“I want to thank both Michele Magnoni and our special test rider for this outing Davide Giugliano for their availability to join us. We are sure their contribution will be extremely beneficial for the team and for Stefan, who is now in Japan to race at the 8 Hour.”

While Giugliano will join Red Bull Honda for this week’s test, it remains uncertain whether he will join Bradl in place of the late Nicky Hayden for upcoming rounds. American Jake Gagne was part of the team for the Laguna Seca round.
