Aruba.it Racing – Junior Team’s Mike Jones is feeling confident on the Lausitz circuit in Germany following a two-day test at the venue, which is scheduled to host the next the round of the 2017 European Superstock 1000 Championship.

Jones explained that certain characteristics of the track reminded him of Australian circuits, enabling the Aussie to adapt in a quick manner.

“The Lausitz circuit is very different from the ones we usually go to, but I liked it a lot,” Jones commented. “It reminds of Australian tracks, being narrow and a bit bumpy, so I was able to adapt relatively quickly.

“For me, the biggest thing to work on was my riding – I focused a lot on that and, with the help of my riding coach, we introduced some changes to make sure I can take full advantage of our potential from now on.

The 2015 Australian Superbike Champion revealed the two-day test provided him with an enhanced feeling of the Ducati Panigale R, stating the team and himself made significant progress with the Italian machine.

“I’ve been able to understand a few things to work on, improving my feeling with the bike and gaining confidence,” he continued. “It was important to get comfortable and we made some really good progress. Then, we just worked on the usual adjustments to geometry and balance for this track. I can’t wait to get back to racing.”

Jones is currently positioned 12th in the standings, tied on points for 10th in what is his first year in the series. The Lausitz round of the European Superstock 1000 Championship is set to take place on 18-20 August, in Germany.
