The Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team has revealed its considering Davide Giugliano to fulfill the vacant opening on the factory-supported team following a recent two-day private test at the Lausitzring circuit in Germany, where he was joined by Michele Magnoni.

Team operations manager Marco Chini commented on the prospect of signing the Italian for the remaining rounds of the WorldSBK series, mentioning he deserves to be considered with his vast experience and understanding of production-based motorcycles.

“We can verify that Davide Giugliano is back on good form,” said Chini. “His vast experience with production-based motorcycles was really useful to get a better understanding of the current level of the team’s Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP2.

“Davide surely deserves to be considered among the number of riders who could race alongside Stefan Bradl in the remaining rounds of the season.”

The team made positive changes at the test, with new fairings and different electronic strategies resulting in an enhanced overall package.

The opening at Red Bull Honda came after the tragic passing of motorcycle legend Nicky Hayden, who succumbed to injuries following a cycling incident in May.
