Movistar Yamaha MotoGP’s Maverick Vinales says he’s had an enjoyable summer break, although he acknowledges it’s now time to narrow down his focus on capturing the 2017 MotoGP World Championship.

Vinales, who sits second in the series standings, kickstarted the year in winning fashion as he claimed victories at the opening two rounds of the year, positioning himself as an early contender.

He has since added another victory to his name, and the Spaniard understands there is no room for error in the final nine rounds of the series with the top four riders separated by only 10 points.

“I’ve enjoyed the summer break a lot,” said Vinales. “I spent it with friends and family, but now I can’t wait to be back aboard my Yamaha YZR-M1 again. We have to be focused on the second half of the season as it is going to be crucial if we want to fight for the championship title.

“There is no room for mistakes. I’ve been training during these weeks to be ready for Brno and Austria, two tracks that I really like and where I think that I can be strong.”

After four weeks off, the prestigious MotoGP championshop returns this weekend at Brno, Czech Republic, signifying the 10th stop on the calendar.
