British rider to remain Yamaha-mounted for a third term.
Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team has confirmed Alex Lowes will remain with the outfit in 2018 to contest the FIM World Superbike Championship (WorldSBK).
Lowes was also a member of the Yamaha Factory Racing Team at the Suzuka 8 Hours, claiming its third-consecutive victory at the event as the Brit set a new lap record at the Japanese venue.
The number 22 is pleased to continue on with Yamaha in what will be his third term, stating he wants to take himself and the Yamaha R1 to where it belongs at the front of the WorldSBK field.
“I am really happy to continue with Yamaha and the Pata Yamaha Team into 2018,” said Lowes. “I feel part of the Yamaha family and this year I believe I have made a step up from last season.
“I want to keep improving and to get to where I, Yamaha and the R1 belong, which is challenging at the front of WorldSBK, so this is my goal and mission. I want to say a massive thank you for the faith Yamaha Motor Europe and the whole team have shown in me, and I look forward to repaying them with results.”
Lowes currently sits fifth in the standings as the prestigious series heads to Germany on 18-20 August for the ninth rounds of the championship.
