Defending champion positive ahead of German round this weekend.
Defending World Superbike champion Jonathan Rea is adamant on maintaining the same work ethic he’s had all year long as the WorldSBK series heads into the second half this weekend at the Lausitzring in Germany, marking the ninth round of the championship.
Rea, who currently leads the premier class with a healthy 59-point advantage, says he more confident going into the German round after enduring a difficult weekend there last year.
“I am really excited to get back to racing again after the summer break,” said Rea. “Our test at the Lausitzring a few weeks ago was positive and I feel more confident about returning there after a difficult race last year.
“The track is very bumpy but we managed to find a good compromise with our setup and I feel good about our starting point for the weekend. During the break I prepared myself for the next phase of the championship. The target is to work in the same way we have been doing all season.”
With nine race wins to his name this season, Rea remains the favourite to claim a third world championship as five rounds remain on the calendar. He’s currently trailed by teammate Tom Sykes and Aruba.it Racing – Ducati’s Chaz Davies in the title chase.
