Australian Josh Brookes experienced a challenging weekend at Cadwell Park’s eighth round of the MCE British Superbike Championship, struggling with bike set-up at the challenging circuit.

Brookes qualified an uncharacteristic 10th, before going onto to post 12-7 results in the two races throughout the weekend. The Anvil Hire Yamaha rider explained he was unable to pin-point the issue, starting on the wrong foot from the beginning of the event.

“We’ve had definitely no luck this weekend,” said Brookes. “We started out a little bit late on Friday morning, and it was a little bit of a rush to get out on the track. It feels like we’ve started off on the wrong foot.

“The first practice wasn’t that good and then the afternoon practice looked like an improvement, but it was false impressions because all weekend we’ve been slightly off the pace and both races were extremely difficult for me.

“If I knew exactly what the problem with the bike was, we would have fixed it. We went through all the different setting changes we could imagine, and I didn’t find the result that we were looking for. If you’re not getting the result you want, of course you’re not happy.”

The former BSB champion holds down fifth in the championship standings as the series heads to Silverstone on 8-10 September, marking the ninth stop on the calendar.
