The Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli (ASBK) is ready to roll into Warwick when it returns to a rider favourite – Round 5 at Morgan Park Raceway (QLD). The racing action will no doubt deliver, when the ASBK will be broadcast to the hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide. With the weekend approaching quickly, here’s a glimpse of what to look out for.

The highlight of the year without doubt has been the phenomenal TV coverage, with footage from every race so far being telecast live. The in-depth coverage that includes heart stopping racing, pit lane access and interviews with the stars of the ASBK won’t be one to miss. There’s simply too much on the line this round to miss a second of the action. The coverage will be broadcast via Live Stream at (9:30am AEST) and telecast on free to air channel SBS (from 1:00 PM AEST) this Sunday 27 August.

The 2.967 km Morgan Park Raceway is very popular amongst the riders with its mix of technical sections and high-speed corners. With a recently resurfaced track, lap records are set to be blown away.

Those attending the event have to make sure to visit the bustling ASBK Trade Alley. Boasting up to 15 store holders, there are plenty of stalls to check out. Make sure to also visit the The Long Ride charity, Lions Club of Warwick and Motorcycle Sportsmen of Queensland, who will all be in attendance in Trade Alley. The Come and Try Mini Moto will also be on hand, providing young kids the chance to have a ride on a bike with expert coaching.

There are a wide variety of stories to keep track of as Round 5 rapidly approaches. As it stands, the YMI Superbike class is caught in a tight championship scrap, with Troy Herfoss (Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team, CBR1000SP2), Robbie Bugden (Kawasaki BCperformance, ZX-10R) and Daniel Falzon (JD Racing, YZF-R1) all separated by only 15 points. With only three rounds remaining, securing victories at Morgan Park Raceway will be critical.

Corey Turner will be making his debut for the Desmosport Ducati Team after being named Callum Spriggs’ replacement for the rest of the 2017 season, after a shoulder injury ruled him out for the remaining races.

Another story to look out for is that of World Supersport competitor Lachlan Epis. Epis will be contesting the YMI Superbike and Hi-Tec Batteries Supersport 300 classes this weekend and at Round 6 Sydney Motorsport Park.

The Motul Supersport Championship leader Ted Collins (NextGen Motorsports, Suzuki GSX-R600) has had a phenomenal season so far. Collins is sure to come under pressure from the top five in the Championship, Tom Toparis (Cube Racing, ZX-6R), Mason Coote (Aark Racing, Yamaha YZF-R6), Jordan Carlsson (Hyperion Motorsport, Yamaha YZF-R6) and Sam Condon (BikeBiz, Kawasaki ZX-6R), amongst plenty others.

The Hi-Tec Batteries Supersport 300 class is filled with incredible up and coming talent with Reid Battye (BCperformance, Ninja 300) and Tom Bramich (Ron Angel Classic Racing, Yamaha YZF-R3) currently leading the ‘Up To’ and ‘Over’ 300 standings respectively. This round also includes the YMF R3 Cup, GP Juniors Cup and Local Club Challenge.
