DesmoSport Ducati newcomer Corey Turner believes his riding style suits the Sydney Motorsport Park circuit after recently taking part in a private test at the venue.

Turner, who’s been a revelation in the Australian Superbike (ASBK) Championship this year, has spent limited time at the New South Wales track, which has led him to keep an open mind heading into this weekend’s penultimate round.

“The test went well last week at Eastern Creek, but it was actually the second time I’ve ridden the circuit,” Turner explained. “So I haven’t done many laps there at all, but it is a great circuit. In the laps that I have done, I do like it and I think it’s a track that suits my style. I’m not really sure what to expect this weekend, but we’ll see where we end up.”

The 19-year-old reflected on his brilliant performance at Morgan Park just under two weeks ago, where he lodged a career-best race finish of second, before a crash in race two saw him salvage eighth for fourth overall.

“I think I surprised myself a little bit with the second place in race one, but I do think it was coming,” he continued. “The DesmoSport Ducati boys worked really hard all weekend and in the first race everything came together and I was able to grab my first racing podium in ASBK.”

The Queenslander sits eighth in the championship standings in what has been his rookie season in the premier class.
