Martin fastest in Moto3 qualifying at Phillip Island grand prix

Jorge Martin (Del Conca Gresini Moto3) has narrowly taken pole position today at Phillip Island’s 16th round of the Moto3 World Championship, lodging a quicktime of 1m37.030s.

Gabriel Rodrigo (RBA BOE Racing Team) of Argentina placed second with a 1m37.248s time, falling just shy of the top spot while edging out Joan Mir (Leopard Racing), who lapped a 1m37.411s.

Spaniard Juanfran Guevara (RBA BOE Racing Team) slotted into fourth, marginally outside the top three after recording a 1m37.544s lap, as Romano Fenati (Marinelli Rivacold Snipers) closed a out a very tight top five with a time of 1m37.680s.

Jules Danilo (Marinelli Rivacold Snipers) placed sixth, while seventh through to 10th was completed by Manuel Pagliani (CIP), Aron Canet (Estrella Galicia 0,0), Enea Bastianini (Estrella Galicia 0,0) and Tatsuki Suzuki (SIC58 Squadra Corse).

Australian wildcard entrant Tom Toparis (Cube Racing) pushed through to qualify in 31st position, which he’ll be looking to build on for tomorrow’s race.

MotoGP is on-track next for FP4 followed by Q1 and Q2, as the intermediate Moto2 class will go out for qualifying ahead of the the Supersport 300 support class race which is set to conclude the day.
