Fores edges ahead in final WorldSBK free practice

Mahias again in WorldSSP while West continues consistent charge.

Barni Racing Ducati’s Xavi Fores was fastest in free practice four at Phillip Island this morning, leading into the first Motul Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) qualifying session of 2018.

Fores led the way with a 1m31.050s, 0.144s ahead of Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) and teammate Tom Sykes.

Yamaha Racing Team’s Wayne Maxwell was top of the Australians in 18th with a 1m32.798s, while Daniel Falzon (Yamaha Racing Team) was P21 and Troy Herfoss (Penrite Honda Racing) 22nd.

The final World Supersport practice was once again led by Lucas Mahias (GRT Yamaha) with a 1m33.847s, with local Anthony West (EAB West Racing Yamaha) fourth a couple of tenths back, Tom Toparis (Cube Racing Kawasaki) was 17th and Lachlan Epis (Team GoEleven Kawasaki) 22nd.
